Sant’Agostino Theatre, home of the Theatre della Tosse Foundation, has undergone a major renovation project aimed at improving its energy performance, the quality of its spaces and its architectural identity. This project combines sustainability, technology and design, giving Genoa back a more efficient and welcoming cultural space.

The most significant intervention is the new architectural “skin” that envelops the building: a surface of anodised perforated sheet metal that dialogues with the city, giving the theatre a contemporary look without cancelling out its historical memory. This element is not just aesthetic, but also contributes to improving the thermal comfort of the internal spaces by protecting them from direct sunlight during the hottest months.

Energy efficiency was at the heart of the transformation: the old gas heating system was replaced by electric heat pumps, ensuring both winter and summer air conditioning in all rooms. The lighting was also completely renewed with LED technology, reducing energy consumption and maintenance.

Sant’Agostino Theatre today is an example of sustainable and innovative architecture, ready to host new stories and inspire future generations.
